DIY cleaning essentials
Are you looking to make your cleaning routine a bit less toxic and a bit more natural? We’ve put some of our favourite DIY and eco cleaning tips together to give you a guide to cleaning naturally.

Multi-purpose cleaner

Ingredients:
  • 1tbsp citric acid
  • Warm water
  • 10 drops of both lemon and tea tree essential oils
  • 10 drops of vodka (optional)
Method:

Add one tablespoon of citric acid and fill the rest with the warm water. Mix until combined and leave to cool down. Once it’s cool mix the essential oils and vodka together and add to the cleaner. (The vodka allows the oils and water to bind together, but you can just shake the cleaner before each use if not using vodka)

Toilet cleaning tabs

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup bicarbonate of soda
  • ½ cup citric acid
  • 20 drops of your favourite essential oil
  • 1-2 tbsp water
  • Ice cube moulds (Preferably silicone)
Method:

Combine the bicarb and citric acid together and then add the essential oils. Mix well so everything is combined. Slowly add the water, you only need a very small amount for these to work. Add to the moulds and press the mixture down as much as possible to remove all air pockets. Leave to dry for 24 hours and pop them out of the mounds.

To use:

Drop one or two down the toilet and leave for 10 mins, clean toilet as usual.

Air freshner

Ingredients:
  • ½ cup baking soda
  • 15 drops of your favourite essential oil
  • Jar with holes poked in the lid
Method:

Mix the baking soda and essential oils together, add to the jar and leave in the corner of the room.

Mirror cleaner

Ingredients:
  • ½ cup vinegar
  • ½ cup water
  • Spray bottle
Method:
Combine the two ingredients together and use on windows and mirrors. Simple!
